I never realised how superstitious many of the Egyptian people are. How do you khup them out of their suffering if they insist on digging themselves khil The 1 problem or concern with the muslim wife is that maybe her husband will take a another wife and the christian wife is stuck in a unhappy marriage with no where to turn to because there is no divorce! Although most of the stories were not considered as having one of those ‘happy ending’, i cannot resist on giving this book 5 stars.
But what really strikes me is that all 5 of the real life protagonists Om Gad, Alice,Suda, Dunya, and Om Naeema are wonderful strong women who I would love to be kaal and hang out with. Together, they give a picture of women’s issues in Egypt, especially regarding family bonds and power, women’s work, establishment of gender roles, marriage, and female circumcision.
