Well, actually it’s more like the other way around – Amber won’t say no and begs Bruce to take her to London and against his better judgment he agrees – although lust for the beauteous Amber might have something to do with it.
Forever Amber is a historical romance novel by Kathleen Winsor set in 17th-century England. I recommend this book for for its entertainment value i for one couldn’t put it down. The headstrong Amber – beautiful, empowered, resilient – represents a rebellion other women identified with, even, like my mother, as they hid the book away in the cupboard.
If you were a man you were expected to have a mistress or else you would be mocked and wantonness was encouraged in women hence why main people were cruel towards Francis Stewart. I know some of you just love this book I would only recommend this book to those who particularly enjoy plot oriented novels because the characters just do not draw you in.
Amber is as annoyingly frivolous as ever and the story feels pointless and extremely dragged out. Even the ending was only about her obsession, and the only good thing about it was that it was open ended enough that it lets me imagine the many horrible things that ought to happen to her after the foreveg in the book have ended.

I can’t say that I “loved the heel out of this book”, it had its flaws, but those harped on weren’t flaws, they were a portrait albeit somewhat embellished of the real immorality of King Charles ll’s court.
