Now, on to “The Persistence of Vision,” the titular short story and the final one in the book. The wandering protagonist of Varley’s short story explores the various countercultures of he southwest until he hits upon something unlike any other: They tended to be among the brightest, the top ten percent in the IQ scores.

Some of varleh were not dressed, but I was used to that by now. Their parents were either dead or not interested vzrley living with them.
