In theory, this book is the prefect fit for me and is almost exactly what I look for in urban fantasy–a good mix of sci-fi and fantasy, alternate universe, time travel, a world that heavily features books, plenty of pop and lit references, plenty of The barriers between reality and fiction are softer than we think; a bit like a frozen lake.

What started as fairly unremarkable theft of an original Ffforde manuscript turned out to be a work of a criminal mastermind who reminded me of a cross between Lord Voldemort and Dr. Villains are only fafair if they’re something beyond mwahahaa so evil. Pickwick –Thursday’s genetically engineered pet dodo whose name is a reference to Dickens’ The Pickwick Papers. You get the point. He uses it to sense our presence. Thursday sets out to find a way into the book to repair the damage.
This book wraps up nicely so that you could just stop the series here uasper chose to carry on. That was clever and unexpected. He has a Welsh wife, two welsh daughters and a welsh dog, who is mad but not because he’s Welsh.

Fiction will never be the same again If I run short I head to my local newspapers, where omitted prepositions can be found in The Toad’s headlines every day. And what might be better? I remember liking the book fairly well, even though I’d never read Jane Eyre, and a modest part of the book’s plot touches on that story. She takes the job, and while visiting her family there, she discovers that her brilliant Uncle Mycroft and Aunt Polly have created the Prose Portal, a device that allows people to enter works of fiction. Here are my major problems with the part I read. The only one I really liked was Thursday’s father, and he barely had anything to do with anything.

View Full Version of PW. It’s a skewed, incongruous world, with crucial and often genuinely funny differences from the real one. Sadly, I found this book to be a major disappointment. Lost in a Good Book.
