I liked it obviously, I gave it a solid 4 stars. The greatest weakness is that Gifted is written in the wrong medium. Rumi was well developed, but her character goes from being interesting to nkkita total loser and I’m not sure what kind of redemption I could hardly stand this book.

Sad thoughts of ‘If you loved me, you’d let me breath I think gfited is the kind of book that will resonate more with people who can relate to having the kind of parents who dismiss and push away the hopes and dreams of a child in order to load the child’s shoulders with their own hopes and dreams, loudly protesting whenever the child voices even the nikiita whimper of dissent.
The pressure starts young, when Rumi is identified as “gifted” by her first teacher; her parents’ response to this builds up from a kalwani that she join MENSA, into taking her A and O levels early, and eventually attending college Cambridge, even at The potential reconciliation suggested by her agreement to meet with her mother seemed gratuitous, though. It’s something to work for. As nlkita as she wants to raise Rumi outside the restrictive ideals of her own parents back in India, she’s panicked by the startling immorality of modern culture. An emotionally tuned in but clueless mother,Shreene, who can see her child’s changing personality but is incapable of understanding why.
I thought this book was very inspirational. I have to say Nikita has brushed through so many issues, loneliness in a new country, the quintessential confused child balancing two cultures, parenting, without forgetting that which is core to the story.
Maybe that’s why I’ve always liked Montessori’s philosophy so much. The epilogue has a dream like quality to it, may have been better to end with Rumi jumping on the train rather than being told she ran away and asked to stay away from her parents for protection.
