EPIPHONE VALVE SENIOR SCHEMATIC PDF

I’m working on a Epiphone Valve Senior guitar amp that works fine I will try to attach a schematic with some voltages I measured added, but. Looking at the schematic I think you could borrow two 12AX7s from the Valve Sr to use as a preamp tube in the Valve Junior Reverb unit but. Now I have to decide between this and the others I will follow up with the results of removing the master pot and replacing it with fixed resistors. I echematic talk about output trannies save your money, no audible difference and speakers shoot me a PM, I’ll let you know what I usebut what I’ve laid out should really get you there.

If I try something once, and it works, i stick with it. A quick fix would be just to replace the tank in schematif Valve Senior, just find the one that fits dimensionally and mounting https: Posted 14 December – If you don’t know how to drain the filter caps, you can Google it, or shoot me a PM.

To do it I would perform some basic schsmatic A handwired Senior with a handwired reverb on top is a nice dream rig. I don’t understand why it resets itself when I turn on and off the standby since the plate voltages don’t change with the drop off. I put a few notes on the schematic one of which says when I epiphlne the VOM probe to junction between the cathode pins on V3 it caused the same effect as turning up the gains.

I’d like to see a schematic of the hot rod version to see how epiphone did it. Seems to me the problem is in the power tubes, but they are brand new and matched.

Skipping on a bit, my first two suspects for causing oscillation would be a bad tube, and poor arrangement of the leads inside the amp, especially the OT output leads. Swapping in known good PI and power valves also worth a try, especially if they are microphonic.

Epiphone Valve Senior problem

Added capacitors to C24 Changed C23 to 47uf Removed the feedback loop wire Checked all the grounds None of these has changed the attenuation drop off at a certain level, either gain or master I realize I haven’t followed the suggestions to the letter, but did what I could with what I have What next?

I will be referring to it often. Page 1 of 1 You cannot start a new topic You cannot reply to this topic.

Can I use parts of the valve senior to do this mod? Education is what you’re left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Posted 15 November – As always any suggestions are much appreciated! I’ll just add, because maybe you don’t seem convinced, that internal oscillation is the first suspect and we haven’t eliminated that possibility yet. I am running 2. Posted 12 October – Skin and Language Theme: My only suggestion is that the OP removes the ‘lamp limiter’. That was the only place where I could get a changed response.

Your name or email address: This will help greatly when putting everything back together. Some people like to use as high as uf for the power amp C Not very expensive, or labor intensive, and wow, what a difference.

Help FAQs Go to top. Remove the chassis from the cabinet, and remove the board from the chassis. I would check the amp shcematic by stage. This still allowed the amp to attenuate sharply at a nominal gain, which stays attenuated until I turn off the plate voltage with the standby switch, and turn it back on again. Then put it back on standby for a few seconds, take it off standby and it comes back to life until the gain reaches a certain level.

Is that where you meant? Apparently it’s supposed to have reverb, bass, treb, and mid controls. Then we’ll know if it’s the preamp or power esnior. V1 has been removed for some time, 2 weeks? I called Epiphone and all they could offer was a copy of the other schematic I mentioned near the top. These amps can easily be transformed into little boutique monsters that will urinate all over just about any other amps in the Watt range.

Sounds like a great idea, try it, you have to destroy half the Valve Senior for the parts and it won’t work as an amp anymore, and you’ll probably end up valce the sound because of the same reverb tank.

Let me know if this helps you, and if anyone else has anything to offer, I would be very interested myself. I love the 6V6’s so I’ll probably try the Valve Senior when it hits the streets. I was reluctant to probe with the scope schematlc the plate voltages so used a meter set to AC eenior.
