Alex is an arrogant rich marquis. The story had a little mystery, deceit, smuggling, and romance. Last Chance, My Love. I am going to be brutally honest, I hated the hero.

I liked the characters, and character development. No trivia or quizzes yet. Alex would rather bone cmbain, you know. Or, get it for Kobo Super Points! Dark Before the Rising Sun. Want to Read saving…. Upon taking shelter in an inn for the night, Elysia meets Alex. The story relies more heavily on cliches and farfetched coincidences than many books today, and it does so without the least touch of irony oaurie it.

It is well written with details, depth, fast paced, twists, turns and thrill ride to be sure. That part bugged me greatly. Thanks for telling us about the problem. It was said too many times that he had ‘hawk-like features’. Want to Read Currently Reading Read. This is the first book by this author I have read and initially I thought it might be the last – the reason? I wish H had to grovel more but he does seem to really regret he’s previous actions.


Anyone who has read enough historicals will recognize the plight of Elysia Demarice. How awesome is it that some of these older romances are being re-released and made available on Kindle in the process?!?

Fortunately for me and for readers discovering it for the first time, this book turned out to be a little old-fashioned in tone, but great fun to read.

A moment of danger provides love epiphanies for all. A Storm of Love – A Novella. However, there were some improbable elements along the way: When fate throws Alex and Elysia I Love the Earl. That said, I loved it and will definately be reading more of Laurie Desite work. Not that anyone cares, since I only had, like, four lines.

I fear it might come from the book being published in the 70s. It opens with Elysia after she’d been orphaned and been taken advantage of by an aunt that she’d had no previous contact with. A Little Bit Wild. After being locked into her bedroom, Elysia can’t take it anymore and runs away by jumping out the window. All of her romances were bestsellers, selling over 11 million copies.

Unlike many of the good-natured frat boy rakes of today, this hero has an edge of danger to him. Because this prose is terrible. The writing was really good and they story flowed nicely. Alex is determined to leave his bride and their marriage of “inconvenience” behind at his isolated estate in Cornwall but soon discovers the innocent Elysia awakens emotions he believed himself incapable of feeling.

Then when she is told she will marry Alex, she just accepts it. I’d hoped he would be out to sabotage their marriage but it wasn’t to be.
