Three days until I start the cycle all over again! According to the DBX gurus this doesn’t render the best signal to noise ratio. Used in this way, the audio signal is unaltered and faithfully reproduced until you exceed the limiter threshold, and then you hear extreme compression.
I think the advice dgx about right in assuming the DRPA is the weak link as I had to play with it for awhile to get it sounding its best, but if not setup correctly it’s a fast downhill spiral. It will also allow you to at least make a decent attempt at EQ’ing your system and keeping wandering fingers from messing with it you might leave the dual 15 inline for those who just have to twiddle- although a properly tuned system shouldn’t require an EQ change going from folky to hairband.
I’ve looked at the as well. The dbx has good converters. I have it sounding pretty damn good using the DRPA.

I am addressing the technical talent issue by sitting all involved down with a willing musician and going through uses of the gear, explaining what all the features are. Not one has failed in the field yet. We limit the subs because you will not hear them distort. This hopefully becomes a blatant indication to the dummy pushing things to hard, to back off to a reasonable level.
But that’s where you have it to set the dgx, not necessarily drla you leave it in use.

As with all DR products, you do need to understand gain structure and you also need to ignore the gain structure addendum in the manual This is what seperates the men form the boys IME.
Nothing is reliable in a harsh enviroment. Are you using the software in the amps as well as the DRPA? Life is just a game, don’t take it to seriously!

To clarify things, first of all your amp has to be able to swing whatever voltage you wish to set the limiter to, plus at least a little bit of reserve, otherwise the amp will clip before the limiter clamps down on the signal.
