That castle is really cool, and it lets us see Violante’s history. The plot picks up when nearly all of the children of Ombra are kidnapped by The Piper and threatened to be taken to the mines where they will surely die.
Inkdeath (Inkworld, #3) by Cornelia Funke
At times the plotting seems disjointed and keeping track of the huge cast of characters can be difficult without Funke’s A-Z listing at the end of the book. Dustfinger is alive, now he’s “dead”, now he’s alive again. I really like how her character has grown throughout the series.

But Cornrlia could have reached through the book and throttled her in Inkdeath! Or at least, she should have made it much shorter!
They longed to be away from the death and destruction, cornekia they knew it wouldn’t disappear just because they did. All together, Inkdeath was very good but it didn’t quite measure up to the other two. It makes me kind of sad, though, when I remember how sweet Farid and Meggie were together in Inkspell.

It is the third novel in the Inkheart trilogyfollowing Inkheart and Inkspell. And the new things he can do with fire are awesome.

Meggie made me adventurous, Mo made me fearless, Resa made me caring, Farid made me long to search for the light in the world, Dustfinger showed me that everything ends, but also everything begins and so many other characters wrapped me up in their amazing world and personalities and gave me a memorable experience. Now, lets talk about Dustfinger So 3 stars, because of Mo and the ending.
Jun 12, Alaina rated it really liked it Inkdsath Farid spent more time pining after Dustfinger than he did after Meggie, which says something about how he is. Plus, it’s nice that the action is happening at a different place than the Ombra Castle or the Castle of Night.

Up to the very last page, I was totally unsure. Inkdeath is a wonderful book although its covers are packed full of pages the words flow like a rapid stream, as the story develops you will find it harder and harder to find a stopping place to rest your eyes.

More disappointingly, the formerly feisty Meggie, barely into her teens, has little to do but choose between two suitors. The idea has always been original, but the writer doesn’t know how to develop the story in an interesting way. I’m so glad that Meggie chooses Doria over Farid. There’s the longing to become more powerful, especially evident in Orpheus, but also clear in the others, to be more: For a medievalist like me this is a delightful Easter egg, and it’s hardly the only one.
