Someone made reference to how unrelenting it was, in contrast, to, say, Toni Mo Snapshot: Instead he decides to earn his coin by going around and painting house numbers slto the curb. Where I feel it derailing a bit is in the Soto’s tone.
And at the same time he’s afraid bueied leave the only life he’s known. Soto often mixed humor with his vivid and tattered setting descriptions.

It taught me the hardships of not fitting in and, at the same time how not fitting it can also be a good thing. He has an excellent imagination which he puts to use most noticeably in his idea about onions that people bury to make themselves cry. This is a short book, and I think urban Hispanic students would identify with Eddie’s story. After he gets in that fight he realizes Angel will eventually come looking for him with his aunt’s gun. Eddie is involved in situations that include robbery, gunshots, blood, drugs, and both running from and confronting dangerous people.
Teens With the Courage to Give: Another mark of an excellent writer which is evident throughout this book is the use of strong verbs. But being grown he’s trying to stay out of trouble.

Though this may be the case, Eddie is insistent about living an honest life while not getting involved in the violence.
Eddie narrates the novel, but his voice is never so consistently his own that I am able to believe that it’s not just Soto pulling strings in the background. I’m not stoo why I’m putting this on the children’s shelf. The characters were almost all relatable. But this too goes awry when his boss’s truck is stolen while in his care.
Is this a book of character rather than a book of incident, to use the terms we’ve been discussing for short stories? Personally, I can relate to Eddie because we both live in crime-infested cities and are trying to stay out of trouble.

Soto’s imagery and attention to detail should pull in visual learners, as his prose are the next-best thing to actual illustrations. With Each turn of a page, I was left more and more on the edge of my seat as I followed Eddie gwry his adventure of love, loss, and the true meanings of survival.

Overall, Buried Onions does what fiction should do–i. The book is bleak, unrelenting, and beautifully written. His mother won’t help him out financially.
