While I occasionally needed the reminder of, say, who the Arun or Marinitch witches were and what made them different, the bouts of exposition required to share this information could be a bit dry, and weren’t terribly well integrated in to the overall narrative. She knows how to weave words and create worlds that seem as if, juet Narnia, they can be discovered around the corner, or down a dark alley, or indeed, in the back of a wardrobe.
After about a hundred years, Kristopher decided to live a more peaceful lifestyle. The primary focus is the day-to-day lives of the vampire-hunting witches, which I particularly enjoyed, since they’ve remained by and large the one-dimensional fanatical assholes of Amelia’s world.
I loved the characters and complexity. Granted, there also aren’t any other Vidas besides Dominique and Adia to try atwater-dhodes connect to and I just don’t to either of them. Nov 26, Small Review rated it did not like it Shelves: Although it is a sequel, because it has been years since the last book and because it is not marketed as a sequela few more refresher details would have been nice. No real sense of relief. Yes, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is one of my favourite authors top 5but this was not one of my favourite books. Adianna is Sarah’s older sister. It’s a great device when it’s done well.
I had to force myself to finish for the tour. The ending was not what I expected but I am very happy with it.
There was no emotional resonance with any of the other characters. Bottom line Read Shattered Mirror! The plot was okay. Her debut novelIn the Forests of the Nightwas published in[2] when she was fourteen years old.
