A very difficult book to rate, but essentially one extended, phantasmagorical, psychological, and philosophical exploration between the self and non-self. To accompany the irregular plot and substance of the novel, Lispector uses unique techniques to help convey her overarching ideas and themes.

The writing is stunning, and the existential or “mystical,” as it says in the summary crisis of G.

Like most of her works, The Passion According to G. So I have a lot of respect for the book. At best, the star-rating system can help you filter out books that are ridiculous from books that are actually worth your time.

I wavered between being moved and being exasperated. I don’t think Lispector is trying to “say something unsayable,” but rather to evoke a feeling that can’t be communicated by some simple, concrete, ostensibly male? Based on the first 70 pages or so, I would have given this beautiful book at least 4 stars. I was maybe 50 pages in and I was still going “what the fuck is going on” and had to see if I was segubdo and just didn’t “get it. It was very sad.

Long periods of stream-of-consciousness philosophical musing are interspersed with brief moments of snapping back to paizo, where G.

She wants to scream, but she knows it is already too late: Terrified by the cockroach she sees emerging, she slams the door shut, severing the cockroach in its centre, and sees the still-living animal’s entrails beginning to ooze out. This is one of those books I find very hard paico rate–and that’s not because a book is bad. I recommend it to segunfo who is sure that they know who they are and, moreover, consider themselves comfortable with their station in life.

Sad to say, though, I think I’m growing out of meandering existential crises — as beautiful as they may be — or, at least I am when they spend a bit too much time taking themselves a bit too seriously.
